Classical Guitar Lessons

Although I have a good deal of experience on other types of guitar, I am a classical guitarist ‘by trade’ and provide lessons mainly on the classical (nylon string) instrument. All relevant areas of technique and musicianship are covered. This is my full-time occupation.

About Me

I have over sixteen years of teaching experience, before and throughout my time as an undergraduate at Birmingham Conservatoire, and in Scarborough since graduating in 2000. This includes work for Midlands Arts Centre, Birmingham, St Joseph’s School (now part of Lincoln Minster School), Lincoln, North Yorkshire County Music Service, Scarborough Area Music Centre and Scarborough College, as well as many private students. I have taught students from beginner level through the ‘grade’ exams and beyond. I regularly enter students for the Associated Board grades.

As a member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians, I have the society’s support in all professional matters, including the appropriate liability insurance cover.

It may be of interest to parents that I have been cleared by the CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) to work with children, through my teaching at Scarborough College. My wife, Deborah, who is often at home while I am teaching, also has CRB clearance, in respect of her work as a class teacher.

Please contact me for current fees and further details. Please view the 'Experience' page and 'Qualifications' sub-page for a brief history of my training.
